Dr. William Cohen
In spite of the fact that Dr. Cohen has an international reputation, he is unassuming, and his patients simply know him as someone who truly cares about each individual.
In 2002, Dr. Cohen was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Cosmetic Dentistry award by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. This high honor is given to only one person in the world each year.
Professional Background
He graduated from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and then served in the US Army for two years. Upon returning to the United States, he taught at his dental school and practiced in the Chicago area.
In 1986, Dr. Cohen became one of the first members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The AACD has since become the largest organization in the world devoted to cosmetic dentistry. He then became accredited in cosmetic dentistry through that organization. To achieve accreditation in cosmetic dentistry requires passing a stringent series of examinations including an examination of the quality and artistry of one's dental work by a panel of expert cosmetic dentists. There are only a handful of accredited cosmetic dentists in the Chicago area. Around that time he was also elected to the national Board of Directors of that organization and served for a number of years. He has served since 1995 as the President of the Chicago Chapter of the AACD.
During his over 25 years of practice in the Chicago area, he has created beautiful smiles for media personalities and models, and has restored teeth in both adults and children. He recently founded Glenview Dental Excellence, a new cutting-edge dental practice in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, Illinois.
Training as an Implant Dentist
Since implant dentistry is a newer field that hasn't yet been recognized as an official specialty in dentistry, prospective patients need to examine a dentist's training credentials carefully. When you do, you will notice that Dr. Cohen has been trained by some of the world's leading implant dentists.
He began his training in dental implants in the 1970s, in the early days of implant dentistry. His training includes:
